The Season is almost upon us!!

In March we had the 1st cut of the green which was much needed after all the rain followed by rising temperatures which woke the grass roots up including moss was prevalent. We had a visit from our Suppliers Turf specialist who tested the soil in various areas of the green at 125mm depth, and his comment was “the green is in a healthy condition with a good root composition”

We have since treated with Spring fertilizer, gave s 2nd cut of the green, treated it for moss as well as a 3rd cut followed by it being scarified with a great deal of thatch removed. Cutting will be become more frequent as the temperatures rise so much activity will be taking place prior to the start of the season

We held our final in-house social function on Wednesday 18th March 2026 (apparently the hottest day of the year so far) which was a Quiz with a Hot Dog lunch attended by dedicated members and locals from the village including a family member from America. The committee would like to thank those members and visitor’s for showing their dedicated support at our winter social functions,

The Pre-season Meeting on Sunday 29th March at 2.00pm was held in the Pavilion. The afternoon was well attended with loyal members returning, a good meeting where the plans for the leagues for the new season plus arranged friendlies and competitions were heard. A favourable change from holding it in the evening, followed by tea and refreshments afterwards which made it more of a social event that enabled members to chat and catch up.
