BRADENHAM BOWLS CLUB & CORONAVIRUS
As a result of the Coronavirus,a collective decision has been made by the leagues we’re subscribed to, to cancel all fixtures for 2020.
This is not good news but nevertheless the correct decision to safeguard everyone. The impact of this is that our club (as with other clubs) will be hit hard financially as we rely on subscriptions & rink fees to sustain its survival over the season.
At the end of last season, the club spent a fair amount on maintenance of the green of which the results can been seen today. During the winter months the club held a series of social events to raise funds for the club which enabled members to come together, keep in contact and interact throughout the period prior to the new season.
As a result of the Government’s decision to encourage self-isolation & social distancing, all scheduled dates (Pre-Season Meeting, Tidy Up Day & Open Day) are cancelled and as mentioned earlier, all fixtures. It is hoped that should the self-isolation & social distancing be eased there’s a possibility we may be able to run roll ups on a Sunday.
The club will have expenditure over the coming months in the form of Insurance, Green Maintenance, Green Keeper fees, Ground Rent, Water Rates & Electricity which will affect us financially.
We continue to run the Bonus Ball Lottery on a weekly basis which will be our only source of income and raises approx. £7.50 per week for the club. There are some numbers available should anyone wish to subscribe to or increase their chances @ 0.50p per number, per week with a prize of £15 to the winner. Please contact Peter Clements (Honorary Treasurer) should you wish to join this scheme and help the Club through this trick financial period.
